There has not been a change in rates since 2012 however, the costs of operations and required infrastructure renewal have increased. Approved increases to utility rates and charges came into effect as of November 1, 2016.

The rate increase for the average customer is a modest $2.52 increase per month, or $30.24 annually. Overall, this is a 4.4% increase that equates to approximately 1.4% per year since the last increase in 2012.

The Town has been preparing its water and sewer budget based on best practices for a number of years. There is no reliance on the tax rate to support the operational needs of the water and sewer operations. Water and sewer rates are set on a full cost recovery basis. These rates ensure the annual operating costs are covered and the long term capital renewal needs are planned for.

Beaverlodge’s new Utility Rates continue to be among the lowest when compared to other municipalities:

Monthly Average Residential Cost

Based on 15m3 per Month, 5/8” Meter - November 1, 2016

Town of Beaverlodge $60.05    Town of Sexsmith $72.27

Town of Wembley $65.00    City of Grande Prairie $78.94

Town of Valleyview $48.00    Town of Fairview $74.25

The ‘Bill Processing Fee’ on Utility Bills that are mailed to customers will increase to $1.25 per month to cover the rising costs of postage and envelopes. Signing up for an EBill is a convenient & free way to receive your Utility Bill via email each month. Customers receiving their bill via email don’t pay the Processing Fee. Find the EBill form on our website or come in to the Town Office to fill one out.

Water Conservation By-Law #885
The Town of Beaverlodge has a water conservation by-law in place. This is very important as it helps us to conserve and protect our water supply, while still allowing residents to water their lawns and keep them looking beautiful.
Normal watering days for odd numbered houses are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and for even numbered houses Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Watering may only be done during the following hours: 6 – 9 a.m. and 7 – 11 p.m. Flowerbeds and vegetable gardens may be watered by hand, at any time, using a watering can or a hose with a nozzle with a trigger shut off to restrict water flow. Children’s water toys may be used for recreational purposes as long as the children are present.
These are level 1 restrictions and fines can be levied if they are not adhered to.
